Stiftung Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv
Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv (DRA) in Frankfurt decided to introduce the dio:content asset management system by picturesafe, thus replacing the self-developed central image database solution. Currently, approximately 45,000 images and their metadata are managed, as well as nearly 20,000 references to analogue image carriers. The system from picturesafe is having no difficulty at all, even with the planned 35% growth of data per year. The Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv will not be the only user of this new solution; ARD's cooperation partners will use it too. These include Südwestrundfunk (SWR), Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) as well as Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), which use the image database to archive their collections of historic images. The user and roles concept is respectively complex.

"The decision in favor of picturesafe was based especially on dio:content's innovative and user-friendly interface. Rated especially positively were its many configuration possibilities both on the user and on the admin level," answers project director Andreas Dan when asked why the decision was made in favor of picturesafe. "Thus overall, dio:content seemed to be the most flexible system, which thanks to its diverse add-on modules can be expanded further if necessary. Not least, the professional conduct of the company at the presentation was persuasive, as was the very extensive and detailed bid." www.dra.de
