Collaboration with Volkswagen AG is continued; picturesafe wins the bid from Volkswagen AG for the online marketing database "System V" making it possible to continue the successful collaboration with Volkswagen that has been in place since 1992; picturesafe has developed and operated the online marketing database for Volkswagen AG for 14 years without interruption.
2005
First Chinese dio:content in China. Following successful negotiations, picturesafe successfully won over the Chinese company BIIC Beijing Industrial Information Center as a new partner and installed and put into operation the first Chinese dio:content in Peking.
picturesafe Hamburg moves to St. Pauli. Since further expansion of our Hamburg site was no longer possible due to spatial limitations, the only solution was to move to an optimized environment. Since July 2005, our Hamburg office has been located in the 4th floor at Simon-von-Utrecht Strasse 31-37 at St. Pauli, in the direct neighborhood of Hamburg's new trendy hotel "EAST".

First international project in the area of media. picturesafe GmbH receives an order for the implementation of a picture portal and syndication system for ANP B.V. Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau.
2003
More projects in the field of media and industry follow. picturesafe designs a representative online presence. The Heinz Sielmann Foundation presents one hundred animals in the Internet in cooperation with Franckh-Kosmos Publishers in Stuttgart, the Tigerentenclub of ARD and some other partners. Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH to use myContent, developed by picturesafe GmbH, to setup a documentation system. More projects in the field of media and industry.
2002
Expansion of the customer base and new projects in the media field. Deutsche Bahn AG presents "Bahn im Bild" in the S-Bahn-Bogen Jannowitzstrasse. picturesafe developed this database-based system for the archiving, cataloging and distribution of digital picture data, which Deutsche Bahn uses enterprise wide. The application is intended to be a service for journalists, authors, railway fans, and commercial users. picturesafe implements the archive and picture sales portal for Picture Press, develops an information display database for Burda Media, and wins over Deutsche Presse-Agentur as a new customer for the implementation of the planned picture portal at dpa Picture-Alliance GmbH.
2001
Expansion of the customer base and new projects for internationally famous companies. picturesafe brings the project for Presse-Monitor Deutschland GmbH (PMG) to a close. Two weeks before the official delivery date, PMG accepts the electronic press clippings. Full operation begins. picturesafe acquired Deutsche Bahn AG as a new customer, who wants to use a picturesafe picture database in their PR work in the future.
2000
Completion of System4 – a picturesafe software development with the name @DAM. In the process, the widespread WebLogic application server of Bea Systems is used for the first time. This opens up a multitude of interfaces to other standard applications such as SAP R/3 for example. @DAM opens up the possibility to picturesafe of actively offering its own applications to other companies as well. Audi AG decides on a significant expansion of its existing solution and signs a new 3-year contract. Presse-Monitor Deutschland GmbH (PMG), founded by the leading newspaper publishers of Germany for electronic distribution of newspaper articles, signs a 3-year contract for a picturesafe database solution for the digital preparation and distribution of press articles.
1999
Platform-independent development is made possible by the use of Java. The now increasingly widespread programming language, Java, is now being used for picturesafe software solutions making platform-independent development possible. At the same time, the system architecture is being changed. System3 comes into being - a state of the art system with a multilayer architecture and an application server developed entirely in Java. picturesafe opens a subsidiary in the old town section of Hamburg. Jasper R. Dencker-Hahn, Stephan Kude, and Wolfgang Wernder take over duties at picturesafe in product development and accelerate the consistent expansion of the company.
1997
Conversion of all picturesafe systems to Oracle databases. All picturesafe systems are converted to powerful Oracle databases. The technological basis of the solutions is referred to as System2. Access to the applications is now mainly via the Internet.
1996
Reorientation of the company. The field of pure services and the operation of a computer center are expanded to include the strategically important area of software development. picturesafe develops and operates one of the world's first pure Web-based image database based on MySQL with browser technology for EXPO 2000 Hannover GmbH. The applications for Volkswagen and Audi are raised to the latest technical standard. The image database, initially used exclusively for the support of worldwide media production, is expanded to become a marketing database. Volkswagen and Audi make more intensive use of it as a communication platform between the Group headquarters and its service providers as well as sales partners. 1995
Reorientation of the company. In October, Herbert Wirth took over management of picturesafe. picturesafe acquires Audi AG as a new customer. New projects for Audi and Volkswagen include a press and media database to supply the press with picture and text material.
1992
The hour of birth of picturesafe media/data/bank GmbH and the world’s first fully functional image database with digital data distribution in the automobile industry. In September 1992, six service providers found picturesafe media/data/bank GmbH. The young company receives its first order from one of the largest automobile companies, Volkswagen AG. The order involves the complete creation of a database and the data management as a service for the media production of Volkswagen AG. During the course of this project, picturesafe provides the world's first, fully functional image database with digital data distribution in the automobile industry. The particular accomplishment here, however, was specifically in the services sector, which covered the following points:
- storage of 3 terabytes of detailed data at that time in a DLT robot system with the support of hierarchical mass data storage management software,
- upload and download of the detailed data and worldwide distribution on digital storage media (MOSs),
- multilingual service in the form of technical support and consulting of the worldwide agency partners and subsidiaries of Volkswagen when searching for suitable picture material. Preparation and sending of proofs to synchronize worldwide catalogue production.
